Hema

A common gel ingredient (a monomer) that improves adhesion but is a frequent cause of allergic reactions when uncured product touches skin.

HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is a widely used monomer in gel products that boosts adhesion and flexibility. While effective, it's a known allergen — repeated skin contact with uncured gel can sensitize clients and techs, so clean application and full curing are critical. HEMA-free products exist for sensitive clients.
